Cancer survivorship & post-treatment care in the Coachella Valley

Life after active treatment doesn't mean healing is finished. We’re there beside you the whole transition.

Transitioning from clinical treatment back into daily life across the Coachella Valley comes with a unique set of challenges. When active care ends at regional health hubs like Eisenhower Health in Rancho Mirage or JFK Memorial Hospital in Indio, survivors are often left wondering, "What comes next?"

Shay’s Warriors Life After Cancer serves as your local bridge across the Coachella Valley, connecting survivors from La Quinta, Palm Desert, Cathedral City, Indio, and beyond with real, local peer support, mental health resetting, and physical recovery.

  • "One of the hardest parts of being a survivor is after active treatment is completed, you are expected to continue life as if nothing happened. You are left with all the side effects, the trauma and life adjustments. Some try their very best to pick up where they left off but how do you do that when your life has been turned upside down? Finding a community is so vital to our survival and healing process. Shay’s Warriors Life After Cancer provides that and I am eternally grateful for everything they do. "

Coachella Valley Post-Treatment FAQs

Where can I find trauma-informed yoga or restorative exercise in the Coachella Valley?

Gentle, trauma-informed movement is essential for rebuilding trust in your body after surgeries or chemotherapy. Shay’s Warriors Advocates Coach Cass of 111 Conditioning in Cathedral City and Sally Salas of MyoKinetix in Palm Desert offer restorative and gentle practices in our Move2Heal program. Additionally, Shay’s Warriors hosts movement workshops tailored specifically for cancer survivors that focus on lymphedema awareness, scar tissue sensitivity, and joint recovery.

Does Eisenhower Health or Desert Regional offer emotional support groups for life after cancer?

While Eisenhower Health Hospital (Rancho Mirage) and Desert Care Network’s JFK Memorial Hospital (Indio) and Desert Regional Medical Center (Palm Springs) provide excellent clinical social workers and immediate support during active treatment, long-term post-treatment peer groups are limited. Shay’s Warriors works alongside these medical systems to provide the long-term, ongoing emotional and social support that begins after medical discharge.

Are there financial aid options for cancer recovery services in the East Valley?

Yes. For medical billing assistance, the national nonprofit organization Patient Advocate Foundation has a great directory, the National Financial Resource Directory, on their website to help individuals quickly generate a list of national and regional resources. Coachella Valley’s own Pendleton Foundation provides qualified residents in Indian Wells, Indio, La Quinta, and surrounding cities incredible financial aid for basic living expenses. For post-treatment mental wellness, restorative retreats, and peer support programs, Shay’s Warriors offers fully funded spots so cost is never a barrier to healing.
